Motus Voice Dispatch Docs
How to set up and run your business's phone line on Voice Dispatch.
Voice Dispatch connects to your own phone number and decides, for every call, what should happen — ring a team member, talk to your AI assistant, or take a voicemail. Every setting on this page is per business: nothing is shared between accounts, and nothing is configured automatically. You do it once, from your dashboard, and it applies to your number from then on.
Each Voice Dispatch account is independent. If you manage more than one business or location, each one is its own separate account with its own Twilio number, its own AI assistant knowledge base, and its own routing rules — configuring one does not affect another.
Setup order matters
These steps build on each other. Doing them out of order means a later step won't have anything to work with yet — for example, a routing rule that dials a team member does nothing useful until that team member has a phone number saved.
- 1. Connect your Twilio number — required first. Nothing else works until your number is connected.
- 2. Add your team and their availability — only needed if you want calls to ring a real person.
- 3. Set up your AI assistant — only needed if you want calls answered by AI instead of (or in addition to) a person.
- 4. Configure call routing (your IVR) — the rules that decide, per call, which of the above actually happens.
- 5. Confirm your plan — billing is separate from setup and can be done anytime.
