Real Test Call

Verify your whole setup with a genuine phone call, from the Call and IVR Simulator page.

Before you start: Your Plivo number must be connected. Place Real Test Call runs the same live IVR and routing logic a real inbound caller would experience.

Place Real Test Call places a genuine outbound phone call through your own connected number, running the exact same live IVR and routing rules a real caller would hit. Whoever answers hears a spoken notice that this is a test call before anything else, so nobody mistakes it for a real inquiry.

Running a test call

  1. Go to the Call and IVR Simulator page.
  2. Enter any real phone number you can personally answer.
  3. Select "Call this number."
  4. Answer the call. You will hear a spoken notice that this is a test call, then your normal IVR greeting.
  5. Watch the dashboard update live: dialing, ringing, the moment of answer, and a running timer while connected.
  6. Hang up from your phone, or select "End Call" directly in the dashboard.
  7. Review the final outcome shown on screen.

What the simulator also does

  • A terminal style live log panel timestamps every event as it happens, so you can see exactly where in the flow the call is at any moment.
  • If a call fails to connect, the dashboard shows the actual reason reported by the phone network, rather than a plain failed status.
  • Alongside the real test call, the simulator can also step through IVR menus and routing rules without placing an actual call, useful for checking rule logic quickly.
Test calls never appear in your real call history or count toward your call volume. They are flagged internally as simulated and excluded from Call Logs and CSV exports automatically.
